Ag Day

Ag Day is a big day on our school calender and when you look at all these cute pictures, it isn't hard to see why! Caring for a calf, goat or lamb is a big responsibility and it is always neat to see the animals spend the day at school while you show them off to the judges. The Spud Growing Competition was tight this year as many of the plants looked healthy and green. Another highlight of our school Ag Day is the food stall! Such delicious treats were sold. Well done to everyone who got involved :)
What placing did you get? What tips would you give to others for next year?

Science Reports

We have created these amazing boards that display our understanding of one of the science topics we have covered this term. We are all feeling really proud of how these boards have turned out and think we have presented them pretty professionally! What interesting facts have you learnt while doing science this term!?

Tessellating Sea Horses

During geometry, we have been learning about tessellations. We talked about the amazing artist Escher, who created famous art works such as Sky and Water, where birds and fish tessellate.
A tessellation is when shapes fit together perfectly, with out over lapping or leaving any gaps. We created these sea horses using pastel and dye. In small groups, we then worked together to see how they would tessellate. We know that they don't quite fit together perfectly like a tessellation should, but we sure did learn a thing or two and now have more nice bright art for the class!

A Special Visitor!

The Hinuera Golden Ferns got to throw a ball around with Casey Kopua yesterday in a photoshoot to celebrate Casey's signing of a 'Lifetime commitment' contract to the Waikato/ BOP Magic Netball Team. This means that even when she retires from playing netball, she may take up an ambassador or coaching type role within the Magic team.
Casey is a an ex-Hinni kid, who also captains the Silver Ferns. She is a great role model out there showing us that all Hinni Kids must have big dreams and must persist to reach their goals!

Copy this link into your webpage to read up more on Casey's big news.

Matamata Piako Gymsports Festival

These 27 Hinni Kids had been learning their gymnastics routine all term and got to participate in the Gymsports Festival held in Morinsville last week. It was a great experience for them all and some even picked up a few placings! The Hip Hop team have qualified for the Waikato Regional Festival and are polishing their dance to perform again next week in Hamilton. Good luck to this group!
A big thank you to parents and supporters- especially to Mrs Burnside! We think you're a star!
