Elephant Toothpaste

Yesterday K7 became LAB 7- the scientific laboratory of Animal Dental Hygiene Scientists!  We received a and letter and package from the zoo asking for our help....

Some of the ingredients they included was yeast, dishing washing liquid, hydrogen peroxide and blue food colouring! Watch the video to see what we came up with...

Why did this happen?! Why did it fizz and foam?? Do you think the elephants will be happy with our recipe?

K7 Drummers

We are enjoying music with Mrs Gribble so far this term and have learnt about keeping beats and rhythms going. We have our own drum kit each week and love banging away. Has anyone made their own drum kit at home??

20 Things We Should Say More Often

The value of the week is Caring and Kid President is a wise wee thing with some simple messages about this! They really are simple, but if we all tried to say these things more often, the world would be a better place!

What are some things you think we could say more of?

Elgregoe Magician

Elgregoe Show
We had special visit from Elgregoe the Magician. He shared with us some amazing magic tricks that left us all feeling really puzzled. He made a bunny appear from a box of money, made fire turn in to bird, and we even saw the illusion of him being elevated! He also had lots of beautiful birds, a Tom the Cheeter (a puppet!) and other neat things to share with us.
Aside from the incredible tricks he shared with us, he also had a very important message- to treat others how we want to be treated, and to show respect to others and to be a kind and tolerant friend. It was fantastic to hear these messages again, as this is the same as all things we have been talking about in class!

What was your favorite trick?
What is one of the messages that really stuck with you?

Teach someone Te Reo!

We love our mums!

My Mum
Impatiently, my wonderful mum gazed at the hot oven. She was leaping up and down. She  asked me enthusiastically “When is this banana cake going to be finished? My tummy is grumbling!” Carefully she opens the beaming hot oven. It's finally ready. I was surprised at how good of a job we had done. We sat together and enjoyed the sweet bananary banana cake, it was delicious.

Carefully, Mum was setting up my ag day course in the paddock for Rosie and I to practise. Mum stood in the dark green grass helping me with my friendly calf. At last we got the blue small holder on Rosey’s big cute head. I pushed but Rosie would not go. “Mum l need a little bit of help.” She looked up slowly “l guess so...” I laughed “Mum hurry up!” We got Rosie in finally. Mum got the soft brush and I carefully brushed her. Mum’s eyes glanced up to the bright blue sky. Mum clambered over the gate. Thoughtful I jumped over too. Mum was laughing so hard she fell in the long green grass. Accidently mum got up and said “I’m all good!” I was glad Mum was not hurt. I love you being with me on the farm, Mum.

Year 4's projects!

While the Year 5’s and 6s were at camp the Year 4s worked super hard on posters about native animals . We had to gather information about the animal that we chose, like information about thier predators, what it eats and also do a big description about the animal too. Also, while the Year 6s were away the Year 4s had a big responsibility of doing all the jobs around Hinuera School.
