Tegan and Marlene's Moment of Fame!

SHOOT FOR THE STARS: Constellation Cup Promotion Clip
Starring: Tegan Branton and Marlene Schwiezer with Casey Kopua

How lucky were these two?! It's not everyday you get to throw a netball around with the Silver Ferns captain, let alone be filmed in a Sky TV advert, which included the girls getting make up and a hot chocolate on the crews coffee run! It 's safe to say these girls will definitely be shooting for the stars when they hit the court again next time!!! Keep an eye out for the ad on Sky TV and of course, GO SILVER FERNS!!!!!!

A Bottle of Memories: Memories of our Dads

Among the Waves
Dreamily striding down to the waves, Dad scuffs the sand out of his way. Leaping into the water and seeing humongous waves, he yanks me and my brother up with great power. We see the next one approaching, but again we feel ourselves being lifted up. This time I didn’t get up straight away. I feel my body fall onto the sand. A mouthful of salty water fills my throat and I get up, choking just before my amazing dad saves me once again.

By Lara

Come and Play
Trying to persuade Dad to come out for a game of rugby. Striding outside to grab my rugby ball. Something curious has happened. I go inside and see crumbs have fallen off the side of the chair. He still hasn’t moved! I sneak up on him and screech “BOO!” He jumped. “Ok, ok!” he said as he pushed himself off the chair.

Delightful Treats
Slurping his little ice cream on her miniature table, the alert minuscule baby piglet is content stuffing her mouth with divine ice cream. Charlotte has a baby pink snout with a small cute smile. Delighted she has a pink body with black spots dappled all over her. Satisfied the piglet twitches her mini ears in interest, trying to catch every little drop before it falls to the luscious grass in the meadow. Crying in delight she is filled with happiness. Charlotte the piggy loves her delicious little treat.

Greedy Pig Learns a Lesson!
“Deeeelicious!” thinks the greedy pig. White creaming ice cream drips down his frozen nose. Plonking himself down, he starts to cruise after a hard day’s work. Sunbathing pig twitches his nose when leaning over the creamy blob. Pigs dark blue seat starts to bend under his weight as he easts more and more. BANG! Silly pig soon learns his lesson.

I can see a rainbow....

Did anyone else see the magical double rainbow last Tuesday at about 5 o'clock?!  I wonder who's lucky farm had the pot of gold sitting in the middle of their paddock....
Your challenge is to write a descriptive sentence/ paragraph about it (Tip: think about what we have been talking about during writing!) I look forward to reading your sentences in the comments below ;)

We will be working together every Friday, which is neat as we can do all sorts of things together. Do you have any suggestions of what we can do when we are with our Buddy Class? Share your ideas in the comments below :)

Sharing Books: Olivia and Cruz, Samantha and Jaimee, Wyatt and Preston

Digi Awards

It was lots of fun putting our Digi Award entries together and it was great to see lots of K7 Kids entering more than one category. Your hard work paid off and you can all be proud of what you came up with. Congratulations to those that have been selected to go through to the finals at the Matamata Digi Awards Gala, which is held later this month. I have just discovered putting videos on our blog is easier than I thought, it just takes a while to load. When I get time, I will add a few more finalist entries up so you can share with family and friends :)

International Day!

What a success our International Day was! It is safe to say everyone had a neat time with their whanau groups learning about countries all over the world. We got a sneak peek into what life might be India, Holland, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Kenya, Egypt,  and Thailand. By discussing their everyday lives, trying their food, speaking their languages, doing their dances and doing art, we all felt as though we may understand these countries a little more. This is just the beginning of this terms learning, so bring on lots more about other international communities. In the mean time, check out our photos from today!

Awesome 3D Art

This term we are learning about geometry and Miss Dagg insisted that we do geometry art by making 2D shapes look 3D. They are still a work in progress, but check them out.

The Seniors Waitomo Cave Adventure

We didn't take photos inside the glow worm cave because we were too busy enjoying the magical lights of the glow worms, but this is some of us just after the boat ride. We were all very impressed and wish we could go again!

Here we are at the Discovery Centre, where we learnt all about how the limestone caves were made hundreds of thousands of years ago.

We all got to test out our wriggling skills as we squeezed through the tiny cave

Some of us even got to stretch our legs right out!

Miss Dagg even managed to wiggle her way through
Lunch time was at the park- we are never too far from a play ground!
Luckily the rain held off for us to enjoy our day... and to sneak in a little play on the slide

We really enjoyed our bush Ruakuri bush walk as there was so much to see. Lilly even found a rock with a fossil in it.

Damon getting his share of droplets of cave water, which is said to be good luck

Looking down into a great big cave with a river rushing through!

 Amazing building at Waitomo Caves

How lucky are we- two neat school trips in one term!! We still have lots of learning to do around the caves so keep posted as we might share some of our learning on here :)

The Stormy Night

If I was a storm…
I would howl and whistle and join the wind wildly whipping window shutters.
I would spit down hail and spread lightning into the dark valleys.
I would refuse to stop raining down little droplets of water covering the land in flood.
I would grumble and moan, snarl and clap as I tumbled through the sky.
By Daniel

Storm violently banging on my window
He raged around my house
Ploughing down trees and anything else in his path
Trampolines flew as the storm
Impatiently circled around, searching for revenge
He frantically danced wildly with rage
His face filled with fury and anger
Taking one last final howl he stormed off
Defeated

By Olivia P

The storm was getting hungrier
With its grumbling tumbling tummy
It was chasing the cars down the narrow road
He was feeling angry and stormy
He was poking the houses
With fork lightning
Knocking door to door the storm crept
Finally he gave up
Leaving the destruction behind
Silence…

Dress Up Your Head Day

On Friday, we had "Dress Up Your Head Day" to raise money for our Cambodian sponsor child, Navin, who has recently turned 9 years old. The money we raised will help her with the things that she needs to get by every day, such as food, education, clothing and shelter. Check out all the crazy ways people dressed up their heads! Top effort K7!
