Check out our Cameo writing!

Whakarewarewa Marae
Sensitive music makes a tear roll down my thoughtful face.
Steam flying into the bright blue air like smoke from a chimney.
Rotten eggs flow into my nose trying to make me spew.
Boiling rocks warm my freezing cold hands.

Whakarewarewa
Geysers attack each other fighting to get the highest, so that they can be leader, the loser laughed at.
Mud pools splurt and splat, wailing in disgust.
Sulphur stinks as we quickly but quietly slink past.
Delighted when watching the entertainment and then joining in, for the Hokey Tokey, for the fun of it.

Listening to soulful songs gives me the goose bumps.
Water starting to warm my feet right up.
Mud pools boiling as hot as a hot jug.
Shimmering clean water showing my reflection.

Visit to Whakawerawera Village

What a neat day we had in Rotorua checking out Whakarewarewa Thermal Village. We managed to dodge the rain and saw and heard some really interesting things, that will spark our learning back at school. A big thank you to our parents who provided transport and made the trip possible!

How fast can you say that tongue twister of a name?!

Enjoying the warmth coming off the rocks
Are you not too sure about the smell of Rotorua Lilly? ;)

The pools were steaming hot- just what we needed on a cool spring morning

Learning about the history of the village wharenui

The village vege gardens are raised, with pipes that run underneath so the air flows through. This allows the soil to cool down, otherwise the plants don't grow properly!

This Maori Microwave or also known as a Hangi is used all year round. It cooks enough food for 12 families!

Boiling hot water cooks the corn for the locals and the tourist

Doing the Hokey Pokey Maori styles!

Final photo before saying ka kite ano!

What other interesting things did you learn??

Ag Day

I just LOVE Ag Day and it was always one of my favourite days when I went to school! Seeing you all with your pets reminded me of just how much time I spent preparing my lambs for Ag Day. I know it is no different for you now, so well done to those that took the responsibility of having a pet this year! I was busy on the spuds which was lots of fun- a big thank you to those helpers that made such a big job much easier :)

Book Fair

Term 3 was super busy and one major focus in our class was analysing a novel for our book fair project. I was impressed with how you were all motivated- you all worked hard to complete your project and thought carefully about the plot, characters, setting and themes of your novels. It is safe to say that putting the boards together and using spray paint was the fun part! Overall it was a big job, so you can all be proud of how professional your boards came together. Well done K7 kids!
