We made our own reusable bags using old t-shirts!!
After a debate about whether plastic bags should be banned in New Zealand, it was clear that we all held a few different views on the topic. It was great that in the end we could agree that these t-shirt bags are really cool and could be a great alternative!

Metaphors to describe our family
In my Family
Dad is a tool fixing all of our problems
Mum is a pot of cowboy casserole steaming and bubbling over the monster size table
Ava is a hard-working pen constantly doing school work and hiding away in her bedroom
Summer is a teased piece of hair strolling in from the farm
Zuri is a robot constantly talking 24 seven
Shepherd is the mud that you find staining the grey carpet
Hadassah is that kind words that float around in your head
Hudson is a curled over lip that drops when he's hurt
Tabitha is an adorable piece of fluff spewing out laughs.
And that just leaves me… and I'm not telling.

In our family:
Mum is the sandy coloured square of fudge, just waiting to be devoured by hungry monkeys.
She is the sassy pink dress, draped over a sweet supermodel.
She is the washing basket, willing to be emptied into the lonely washing machine.
And she is the earthquake that hits the town, destroying everything.
In our family:
Dad is the motorbike zooming up the drive, late.
He is the silly joke, wafting round the room, spreading laughter.
He is the old worn jersey, broken and dull grey.
And he is the angry voice, shouting at me to get out of bed.

In my
Family:
Dad is the
ball flying towards the try line while I say noooo!!!!!
He is
spotlight searching the bush for eyes of the deer
And he is
the gun blasting the possum out of the amber tree
In our Family:
Mum is a whisk
spinning around like crazy in the bowl and forming a delicious, sticky mess.
She is the
plaster sticking to my wrecked knee, after I’ve fallen off my bike.
And she is the
iPad going into my hand when Dad is not home.
In our Family:
He is the
bullet of the nerf gun just missing me when I jump.
Ruben is the
fist smashing in to my face when he realises that I am winning the play fight.
He is the
annoying voice hitting me with whiney words

In my family
My brothers, Leo and Brodie are the excitement in our family.
They are magic changing everything from fun to just a bit too
rough.
They are the mess makers painting the table with food at
dinner time.
They are the warmth in my blankets and duvet
Archie is the anchor and love of the family
He is the convincing booming bark, making us feed and play
with him
He is the murderer who kills you with slobber
And he is the bulldozer, pushing me out of my own comfy bed

What happens to our waste?
We have placed a whole bunch of waste items in a tub, and buried it in soil.
How long do you think each of the below items will take to break down??
